Residential Plumbing
Leaky faucets, clogged drains and blocked pipes. Fast, reliable fixes you can count on.
I'm Roy. I live and work in Barrie, and this is where most of my days are spent — licensed journeyman plumber, backflow certified, residential and commercial. When you call, you get me, not a call centre.
Hi, I'm Roy. I'm a licensed and skilled journeyman plumber with 20 years in the trade. I'm originally from the UK, and in January 2021 my family and I moved to Barrie to build something of our own.
I started out with a local plumbing company, and it showed me exactly what I wanted to bring to this community. A more personal service. Real attention to detail. Fair, honest pricing.
For me, plumbing isn't only about fixing the problem. It's about making sure you feel looked after. I pay close attention to the details, and I treat every home as if it were mine.
"I show up when I say I will, I'm honest and upfront, and the job isn't finished until you're completely happy."
One plumber, one standard. From a dripping tap to a full bathroom renovation, here is how I can help.
Leaky faucets, clogged drains and blocked pipes. Fast, reliable fixes you can count on.
Work that fits around your business, so your day keeps moving with minimal disruption.
Cross connection testing, surveys, install and repair. Fully compliant with the municipality.
Diagnose and repair fast, or install new. I work on all types of water heater.
Clogs, backups and tree root infiltration, cleared and repaired properly.
A full visual plumbing check for buyers and owners, with a clear plan to fix any faults.
Full renovations including tile, electrical and building work. Start to finish, I handle it.
Preventive upkeep that keeps small issues from turning into costly repairs.
Barrie runs on two different waters, and which one comes out of your tap depends entirely on where in the city you live. Surface water is drawn from Kempenfelt Bay and treated at the Surface Water Treatment Plant; the rest of the city is fed by municipal wells tapping a deep aquifer. The City publishes an interactive water supply zones map so you can check which one serves your address.
That split matters more than most people realise. The City's own figures put groundwater areas at typically 13–20 grains per gallon, against 3–8 grains per gallon in the surface water areas. Same city, and one end of it is running water four or five times harder than the other. It shows up as scaled water heaters, furred fixtures and short appliance lifespans — and whether a softener is worth fitting depends on which zone you're in. I can tell you which side of that line you're on before you spend anything.
For commercial, institutional and multi-residential property, Barrie's Backflow Prevention and Cross-Connection Control By-law sets the rules: testable devices tested annually, each property assigned a test month with a letter 60 days ahead, work done by a qualified person registered with the City's program, and any failed device repaired or replaced immediately with Water Operations notified. I'm backflow certified and deal with the municipality on this directly.
Servicing details from City of Barrie — drinking water treatment and distribution · City of Barrie — backflow prevention and cross-connection control by-law.
I'm based in Barrie, so nothing here involves a long drive. Burst lines, failed heaters and backed-up drains get to the top of the list.
Scaled and prematurely dead water heaters, seized fixtures and blocked aerators. Softeners and filtration supplied and installed as an authorized Excalibur dealer.
Annual testing, surveys and installs for industrial, commercial, institutional and multi-residential property, filed to keep you the right side of the City's by-law.
Aged supply pipe, seized shutoffs, drains that need rebuilding rather than snaking, and bathrooms taken back to studs and done properly.
Painswick, Holly, Ardagh and the newer subdivisions — fixture installs, finishing, and the faults that surface once a house has been lived in for a few winters.
Work scheduled around trading hours. I already look after multiple commercial kitchens in the city.

Out of a 0-10 rating, I would give Roy from Wilkin Plumbing a 20. This man is without a doubt the best plumber I have ever dealt with in my 50 years of owning a home. He is so very knowledgeable, kind, professional and he stands by his word. The last two projects he did for us were done with perfection, and although he ran into things that took him longer, he stood by his quote. I would recommend Roy to anyone without hesitation.

I look after 6 Tim Hortons restaurants in Barrie and Roy is our plumber. He is by far the most detailed, knowledgeable, honest plumber we have had. He is quick and prompt at solving any of our plumbing issues at any of our locations. He arrives on time and on the date he schedules us for, and if there is any plumbing emergency, he responds quickly.

Roy was great at understanding our needs for a new sump pump set up. We are on high ground water in the south east end and Roy fitted us with a two pump set up to ensure peace of mind, along with a wifi water level detector for extra measure. Would highly recommend!

My wife and I could not be happier with our new bathroom. Extremely knowledgeable, Roy transformed an empty corner of our basement into a beautiful, fully functional bathroom. His work is impeccable and the end result speaks for itself. A great guy and a pleasure to work with. We would highly recommend him!

Charged on time and materials, so you only pay for the work the job actually needs.
Some supplied items, like toilets and faucets, have set prices. Everything is based on the time and materials needed to do the job right.
I can often quote straight from a few photos you send me. For bigger projects I'm happy to do a site visit at no cost.
Barrie is home and Orillia is a regular run. These are the townships and towns around them I cover — each one has its own page with what the plumbing is actually like there.
